Hobbe Smith (1862-1942)
Hobbe Smith was born on December 7, 1862, Witmarsum (Belgium) and he died in Amsterdam (Holland) on May 1, 1942. Student of the National Academy in Amsterdam, from 1880 to 1885, then headed by A. Alebe, a well-known Dutch artist. Later Smith attended art school in Antwerp (Belgium), where he studied fine arts.

Hobbe Smith was an excellent painter, made prints and drawings, portraits, nudes. One of Smith's favorite subjects for depicting is sea and river, as well as cityscapes.

Participant of projects: "Arti et Amicitiae" (lat .: "For Art and Friendship") and "Sint Lucas" (formerly known as "the Sint-Lucas School of Architecture") (Amsterdam), "Pulchri Studio" (Latin:"For the study of beauty") The Hague.
 
His exhibitions were held in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and other cities.

Hobbe Smith's works are in the possession of the Twente National Museum in Enschede and Kunerathoren in Rennes.
